ALEKSANDAR LOČMELIS-MANEVSKI

“If you are a chef, no matter how good a chef you are, it's not good cooking for yourself; the joy is in cooking for others – it's the same with music.” will.i.am

Aleksandar is a chef with true passion for his craft and experience in the restaurant business of more than 20 years, both in his native country Serbia, as well as other European countries and the last thirteen years also in Latvia. Aleksandar began his work in Riga in the restaurant Vincents, which at the time was the most famous fine dining establishment in the Baltic states. In the further years he established various new dining companies, for example, the wine bar Garage and the restaurant Riviera. Thanks to Aleksandar's active nature and good advice, these establishments continue to flourish.

By having confidence in the Slowfood movement and using only the best local products, Aleksandar always manages to create and prepare truly delicious and compelling dishes, not only for the guests of his restaurant, but also private clients. Dishes made according to recipes developed by Aleksandar have been enjoyed by corporate clients and foreign diplomats, as well as served at events frequented by the more well-known people of Latvia.

Aleksandar does not prepare dishes using the traditional ways of cooking alone, he loves to experiment by preparing dishes on a charcoal grill or in the wood stove. Most importantly, the dish must be prepared with local products of the highest quality.

Aleksandar first noticed the products offered by the label KAIGO in 2018 and since then these excellent quality products have found a steady place in his kitchen. The chef maintains that the products are versatile, easy to use and make it simple to create recipes for array of different and delicious dishes. He points out that fish and fish products are a source of healthy nutrients that should be included in anyone's weekly diet at least a couple of times. As we know, fish contain protein, iron, minerals that are necessary for the body, as well as the highly valued Omega-3 fatty acids that support the cardiovascular system. However, it is crucial to know how to choose good quality fish and, in this regard, the KAIGO team are highly seasoned professionals. For example, KAIGO offers wild salmon of superior quality. While living in the wild waters these salmon, especially the Alaskan salmon, feed strictly on plankton that is rich in astaxanthin*.

*Astaxanthin – one of the most potent known antioxidants in nature that improves the blood circulation, protects mitochondria (the components of cells that provide energy to other cells) by supporting the cell membrane and stimulating the production of energy.
